Here is an amazing natural abalone pearl ring from Tish and Wes Rankin of Pacific Coast Pearls. The lighting wasn't the best, but you can get an idea of the pearl's spectacular beauty.

And here is a photo by David Rankin from their website, www.allnaturalpearls.com. The setting is great, not only for attractiveness, but for protecting the pearl from daily wear and tear.

11mm abalone pearl, 18K gold with colored diamonds. Round abalone pearls like this are beyond rare.

The collection is XOXO and the X is immediately obvious. The O is a lustrous South Sea pearl held in its embrace.

This is an excellent example of orient in a non-baroque pearl, a dream button. And here is the ring.

You can get a better idea of how large they are by the side view of this golden South Sea pearl.

These are definitely the kind of hugs and kisses I want to receive.

There are other designers that are noted for occasionally turning pearls into jeweled critters, but Emiko Pearls always has a virtual Noah's ark of glorious gem encrusted pearl animals and insects.

Last February, at the AGTA GemFair in Tucson, Ron Greenidge was very generous in allowing several photographs to be taken to share with Pearl Guide as Pearls of the Week. This perfectly detailed enormous scorpion pin is the first to be featured.
