This morning, I accidentally stumbled onto this amusing website:

Where are the pearls for sale, I ask you? Can it be that women are not willing to part with their gifted pearls after a breakup? In contrast, diamonds seem to be a very popular resale item. But I couldn't find anyone that said, "Okay, here is a lovely golden 18" 14mm South Sea pearl necklace that my cheating no-good alcoholic ex-boyfriend gave me as a present while on his knees crying, blubbering and grovelling for my forgiveness because the day before I caught him locking lips with my best friend Lyne. The rotten pathetic loser also offered to get me a pair of 14mm earrings to match but I told him to take a hike--- and he did, so now I want to unload this thing. It doesn't go with any of my tank tops."

Hi Barbie,

Undoubtedly! Unless there is a mirror website for men who are selling off all the jewellery they got from their ex-girlfriends or boyfriends;) I definitely wouldn't be one of those girlfriends. I did buy my adorable husband a spiffy watch last year but I don't think that counts because I used his credit card to pay for it.

I found 6 pearl necklaces by clicking on necklaces and then typing "pearls" into the search field. Even some wedding day pearls. Sad.
 
That website! What a riot! :p It actually feels pretty good to think that the lades who had the nerve to write those posts and sell the stuff are well over bad times.
 
I dunno...I'm getting a strange sense of karma from these pieces of jewelry from this site. I understand getting rid of your ex's stuff that he/she gave you, but buying it and using it for myself just feels weird o_O Knowing that I have a piece of jewelry from someone where it came from a bad marriage/relationship with a smarmy guy doesn't sit well with me.

Best going to a pawn shop IMO! Lol, then you never know from where or from whom it came from and the story behind it.

That is pretty amazing!! If there was something there I wanted, I would give the pearls a nice pure castile soap bath when I received them and clean all the bad karma off!! Slraep, it is truly amazing what you come up with!!

I don't know. I'm always getting weird sites to pop up when I am searching the web for stuff. The weird websites are usually totally unrelated to what I am searching for! I sometimes think I am some kind of magnet for these things(and a lot of other things).

I think I missed the six pearl necklaces that Pearl_dreams found because I was concentrating too much on the hilarious commentaries. I see there is a Tahitian pendant too.

And, I agree, Mandy, some things are best kept "quiet". Like better not knowing that the engagement ring you and your fiance got for a steal on the web, actually came off the finger of a poor fed-up girlfriend who's gambling, cheating, lying, pot smoking, drinking, abusive, mooching, and good-for-nothin' ex-boyfriend stole it from a previous girlfriend's jewellery box. He gave it to her just before she kicked his ass to the curb at the last straw---pictures of scantily clad strange women in his e-mail account. Yup, the mystiquery and romance of such a baubble would definitely be lacking.

Pattye, I think for some of the items, a castile soap bath maybe wouldn't be enough! You'd need many changes of water and a good sea salt scrub, of course, but some items might need a jewellery exorcism. Caitlin would know how to do it since it is a little know fact(so little known that ONLY Zeide knew it) that she moonlights as a Yaqui sorceress.

Do the salt bath and smudge it afterwards. That should take care of all lingering vibes.


I forgot about the Yaqui Sorceress thing...Too funny and the Yaquis would not appreciate my claiming that!:rolleyes: No wonder she fessed up to me on that infamous day- she was scared of me;).TeeHee.


Bay of Cortez pearls website used to have an extremely good article on Yaquis and pearls.....The Yaquis pre-conquest were pearl crazy. The chief who first met the European destroyers put on a full regalia brimming with pearls and mother of pearl. Boy, was that the wrong thing to do!!! Probably the last time he wore it before it got grabbed. The Yaquis were enslaved and forced to clean out the pearl beds, which never recovered to pre-conquest glory,while eventually, the Yaquis became the ONLY tribe to resist the conquistadores and keep their independent status as a tribal entity and (some of) their traditional lands.

I HAD THEM FOR MONTHS AND WHEN WE BROKE UP I THINK HE JUST FORGOT ABOUT THEM BECAUSE HE NEVER ASKED FOR THEM AND I WASN'T OFFERRING THEM EITHER. I AM NOT AN ORIENTAL RUG TYPE PERSON BUT I KNOW HE PAID A TON FOR THEM BECAUSE HE BOUGHT THEM THROUGH AN INTERIOR DESIGNER WHEN HE FURNISHED HIS APARTMENT. PLEASE DON'T ASK ME FOR ANY DETAILS BECAUSE I KNOW NOTHING OTHER THAN THEY ARE IN PERFECT CONDITION, VERY HEAVY, VERY THICK MADE OUT OF WOOL.

Oh Pattye, just found this site---it gives you instructions on "exorcism level" cleansing of crystals and how to smudge. Pearls are a conglomeration of some mighty fine aragonite crystals so this should be relevant...

"You don't really need to soak your crystals very long in salt water. A minimum of 7 hours is usually all that is needed unless you have crystals that are extremely toxic for some reason. When I do some really, really heavy clearing with clients (exorcism level), I will soak the crystals is heavily saturated salt water for 3-4 days or longer. However, in normal daily wearing of crystals, a light short 7 hour bath every 2 weeks or so is fine. Get a plastic bowl large enough to hold your crystal(s). Glass is fine but it is a hard surface and you could chip your crystals easily if not careful. Fill the bowl with water to cover the crystals by about 1 inch. Room temerature water is fine and it would be best to have spring water whch is "alive" with nutrients that crystals like. For more refined energies, use distilled water. It doesn't matter to the crystal unless you go back and forth between extremes of very hot and very cold (even Pyrex has a maxium tolerance). Then, for each crystal, add 1 tablespoon of salt as a rough guideline. The "perfect" cleansing solution is a 30% solution of sea salt and spring water. If you have genuine sea water, use that ! As a intuitive, I usually just throw a handful of salt over the crystals and just leave the bucket in the sun to soak."
