23 years ago when I was born my great aunt gave my father a pearl necklace to give to me when I turned 21 years.

I am unsure about the worth of this necklace and was wondering if anyone could give me some information about this?

Thank you,

Leanne.

Leanne,

Welcome! Your necklace appears to be baroque cultured freshwater pearls from China. This is the shape pearl that China was growing 23 years ago. These don't have a bead center as they are nucleated with a small piece of donor tissue, resulting in a pearl that is all nacre. You don't mention any markings on the clasp, but it may be 14k.

The monetary value of the necklace would be under $100, but I'm certain the sentimental value is priceless! Thank you for sharing your photo and story.
