what type and value of pearls do I have

Hi There :O)
I wanted to know what type of pearls do I have? And the value of them
please?...These pearls were bought for me from a friend a mine about 15
years ago...I so appreciated the thought, but they have been in a soft
cloth in a lock box all of these years... :O( Another friend of mine loves
pearls and said she wanted to buy them from me, but I have no idea what
type they are or the value of them...I tried to find a makers mark, but was
unsuccessful with this...Will you please help me?...When I rubbed them across my teeth,they were gritty.I do know this is a good sign..LOL..
