What kind of pearls are they and approx how much are they worth?

I received these as a gift. However there was not an appraisal in the box. I am curious to know what kind they are and approximately what is their worth.

Welcome, what a nice gift! Those are cultured freshwater pearls from China. They appear to have a nice luster in the close up photo, and an off round shape that indicates the pearl formed over a piece of donor tissue instead of a bead. So each pearl is pretty much all nacre. The value would be less than $100, even if the strand has a 14k gold clasp.

Wear and enjoy! Avoid chemicals and hair spray. There is a thread on pearl care if you'd like more information.
