What kind of pearls are these? How much are they worth?

Please add more photos, close up, on a white paper towel. Unable to tell if these are cultured pearls or imitation pearls from this distance. What else can you tell us about the strand?

Have you tried rubbing them gently against each other or on a tooth to see if they feel gritty (pearls) or smooth (faux)?
