what kind of pearls are these and are they of value?

I have some of these pearls given to me recently. They haven't been touched since 1960. What kind are these and are they of value. Thank you.

We need a much closer photo on a white background, like a paper towel, and please give us some approximate measurements of the pearl and how long the strand is. What is the story behind them, that they were stored away for so long?
