Hi Jdk87,

I moved your post to a thread of its own in the forum where it will be more easily found by readers.

The necklace could be a vintage strand of graduated akoya pearls but the photo is not in very good focus. There are also imitation strands in this style.

I suggest you try this simple test: rub 2 of the pearls together gently, or rub one of the pearls against the edge of your front tooth. If they glide smoothly, they are likely imitation; if they feel gritty they are likely genuine pearls.

As to value, there are different kinds of value. Resale value is lower than replacement value (which is for insurance purposes). Assuming they test as genuine pearls, I suggest you look at eBay sold listings to see what similar strands actually sold for. Unfortunately pearls do not tend to retain their value on resale.

However it is missing the other end of the clasp, and many buyers do not want to pay to restring pearls. If you wish to restring them, yourself there are tutorials and videos in our Lowly Beaders Club forum. It isn't difficult. And then you would likely be able to sell it.
