Hello everyone!
I am new to this forum.
I'd like to ask help as I don't know where I canI have these appraised in Manila.
I bought from a seller in Palawan, 12mm, 14k but the marking is unclear.
Thank you in advance!

Welcome to Pearl-Guide!

I deleted your duplicate thread (to avoid repeating the photos) but saved the original post as it has a bit more information (i.e. that they came in a generic box):

Hello everyone!
I bought these pearls online from Palawan, Philippines.
It came in a generic box. Nothing special.
12mm golden south sea pearls, 14k stud, but the stud marking is really illegible.
I have taken a picture of the few imperfections but its very difficult to capture with my ipad.

So, the question is whether they are natural color or dyed. What did your seller say about this?
If natural color, is that stated on your receipt?

Hello Pearl Dreams! Thank you. Oh, I haven't asked if natural or dyed. And there was no receipt as it was an online peer to peer transaction. I will ask the seller, hope she replies soon.

Hello, edzmaya.

Whether you're in Manila, Singapore, or any other city in the Western Hemisphere, you will have difficulty finding a pearl specialist to appraise your pearls. It would not be realistic to peg it to the going rate in the US and Europe (believe me, I tried).

For starters, you have to consider that the overhead cost in Palawan is much lower. As for quality, much of the pearls in the stores in Palawan are in the A to AA range. The high-end stuff are reserved for international auctions.

My experience with buying online, from Palawan-based vendors, has been mixed. My first pair was great, but succeeding purchases were of lesser quality. And if you bought yours from L's, she will always claim that her pearls are not dyed. That's why I prefer to buy in Greenhills; I can examine the pearls in person and the better merchants are more forthcoming.

Yours do not look dyed, but it's hard to tell from online photos. If you wish to add to your collection, I'm happy to accompany you to Greenhills and show you what to look out for.

Hello cyndayco,

Thanks for the kind reply. Can you give me a tip on how to tell whether it is dyed or not? I have been cmparing the, with a golden pendant I bought from Jewelmer, and to my untrained eye, they look the same. 😅
Nevertheless, I this is my first golden stud and I enjoy wearing them, I am just wondering if someday, I will sell, what would be a fair price. 😊
