A lot of them are nacreous. I see several pinctadas a couple haliotus. Maybe if we could see the latin names, we could tell you more.

a couple of mussels, the pink one looks american, a nautilus, a trocus, but the sizes are not to scale with each other. There are some windowpane shells- are they pteria penguin or some kind of plicata? I am fuzzy.

It is a collection I would enjoy having in a shadow box!

I see both Pinctada maxima (one has been made into a salad plate. I have some of those) and Pinctada margaritifera, aka South Sea and Tahitian shells. A couple of clam shells.

Thank you for your warm welcome Cliclasp. I am an American who living in San Diego. A friend of mine in China had asked me to help him to identify these shells in English. Only couple that I know for sure but not the rest; therefore I turn to you guys for help.

L1: abalone (don't know what species); blacklip pearl oyster; pearl oyster (may be Isognomon?); abalone (don't know what species)
L2: freshwater mussel; clam; winged pearl oyster (penguin); don't know
L3: can't tell; 'trochus' snail; silver-golden lip pearl oyster; freshwater mussel
L4: abalone (paua); freshwater mussel; don't know; silver-golden lip pearl oyster
L5: 'akoya' pearl oyster; pen shell?
