I found this set of pearls on Groupon (I don't know what your rule is on posting Groupon links but it's the same as this Semi Baroque set. I've ordered it from Groupon for ?25, and I get the feeling it was never worth ?239 to start with, not that I'm too bothered considering how much I paid

no its not worth ?239, not even sure its worth ?25 - groupon really has gone off the deep end with some of the junk they offer now. They burned so many good merchants that only the scammy ones will work with them now.

In a brick and mortar store that (?25 ) would be a reasonable price for a set like the one you linked. But Groupon would be representing it as a special deal and it is not a special deal.

Does anyone have a photo of what you are discussing. I can't follow. Sorry. newbie

Leaving aside that such pricing practices are not legal in the UK (because worth ?X selling big bargain for ?1/4x or whatever is meaningless) the picture which comes up is not of white baroques but pink roundish.
It has no details on size of pearls, quality, what metal the clasp is made of (or whether the clasp complies with EU regulations on nickel lead and cadmium content) (heir terms breach the Distance Selling Regulations too)
With pearls, you pays your money and you have your choice made for you with this transaction.

Yeah I thought as much. There's only a little bit of information on the groupon page that says

"• Necklace, bracelet and earrings
• AA-grade freshwater pearls
• Necklace length: 18 inches, bracelet length: 7.5 inches, stud pearl diameter: 6-7mm
• Ornate rose-shaped latch
• White pearls"

Either way as long as it's not bad for ?25 I'm not complaining!

Think of it as a "starter set". If or when you decide you want to purchase something better or different, come back for advice. :)

Remember that, as you appear to be somewhere within the EU, the distance selling regulations apply and you can return for a full refund with no reason and they cannot refuse to repay.
