Dear Friends of the Akoya:
Check out the UTube video of the farm of Vietnam Pearl, the farm that I visited this summer in HaLong Bay. The camera shows the white sand beach.
The owner of the sea concession wants to put a showroom, restaurant and beach umbrellas on that beach and sell direct to tourists on cruise boats and day trippers.
Of course, he wants a venture capitalist who will finance and, maybe, co-direct his operation, improving the technology. If any of you have a spare million and want your very own pearl farm, contact SECOIN in Vietnam (the holding company of the pearl farm).
SECOIN is run by the owner, Professor Ba. The pearl farm is only one of his businesses. He ships a container load of floor and roof tile to Osaka once a week. Painfully, from the profits of the tile business, he has funded his pearl farm.
HaLong Bay has hundreds of sites for pearl farms. They don't have the theft problems that Phuket has. They don't have the weather problems that China has.
Starting January 1st, foreigners can buy property in Vietnam and rent sea concessions- the whole country will convert to the Singapore model of economic growth. No taxes on corporations. Foreigners are welcome. P.S. You can see me taking pictures. Chubby blond lady.
