Unfortunately, from the one set in the bezel there, all I can see is a brown dot with a faint suggestion of some possible bumps and shades on the surface. Hard to guess...

And there are a few options for a small, button pearl (why else the bezel?) interesting enough to be set that way: something exotic - an oyster or blue mussel pearl pearl come to mind. Or a small, natural abalone pearl... But I cannot tell whether it is nacreous, or even what color it is from the picture, Tough!

The little red stones in the conch pendant are red beryl, right?

PS. Wanted t as this for a bunch: are your changeable clasps similar to those used for 'invisible' necklace closures? And either way, can they be used as such?

Well, it is very hard to tell the color with the lighting and the gold setting, but American freshwater pearl can have a cream-gold look, could that be it?

a small greenish golden button shaped one,
and an angel wing, fantastic pink and golden color

It is close to "invisible" but different,
used to open and change from both sides of the clasp,
any necklace can be converted, either with a pearl from the strand -
so it becomes, "invisible" - or with a different ball clasp to make it the central eye catcher

So of course can be used as invisible clasp though I like it as very " visible"

I like it very much with keshis, single or multi strands

Some use to remove stones and pearls from antique jewellery to reset them in a modern way.
I did the contrary, I found 3 interesting vintage rings from which I removed the stone and pearl and set natural pearls of my personnal collection onto.

I shall start with an english ring from the 70's, Line Vautrin inspired
or that is how a feel it, (http://www.line-vautrin.fr/ang/pag1/creat.htm).
This ring was previously set with an akoya plain pearl, and has now a natural pearl 3.52ct 7.5 mm diameter, very dark purple with hints of brown and black, slightly off round .

I shall be glad to get your advice of this little one

Penn pearl? (Atrina vexillum) I previously posted one that looked a lot like yours...I am so used to being wrong when I guess your pearls though...

I love the setting; it still has a high fashion look much updated by the change of pearl.

Yes Caitlin, It is penn pearl and it is fantastic that you put the link with this amazing long necklace and the two huge specimen.
It is curious to learn that penn pearl can be half nacreous half non naceaous... ah nature !
i am glad you like the style of the ring.
I will next post the second and third vintage rings with natural pearls ...

This was first a vintage ring with a mexican opal (since it was a mexican ring...),
I removed the opale because there was just the size for a lovely conch pearl...
And the opal started her "second life" guess how ? as a decoration of a fountain pen, yes !

I think your penn pearl really makes the first ring look unusually rich.

The second ring/setting reminds me of the Tish-and-Wes Rankin style. Could it be?

The conch pearl ring is just a vintage ring from the 70' set with a conch with same size than the opal originally set in.

Hello PG Friends, remember my photo report on Balseworld, I told you I purchased scallop pearls and was waiting for good light to show these little ones.
Here they are.
I did not like scallop pearls before, I though they were dull, but when I saw these ones, I was captivated by the color, the texture, and the set was so well matched. I think I will do something by diamond briolettes. What's your opinion ?
