Interesting and strange. I know someone who used the Synchrotron in her lab research, but it didn't involve changing the color of pearls or embedding an image!

Changing the pearls to gorgeous blue, purple or red would generate a LOT more excitement around here, lol!

it's just a fancy dyed inexpensive pearl...where is the value in that.. but then they need to talk it up as they are a government department and need to justify all that money they have spent on this project.
