Strange Looking Pearls??

Hi, Bought at a car boot sale a short time ago, Yes they are gritty when touched to my teeth, they are also slight variations in size, any help with be very much appreciated

From the striations, they might be some sort of shell bead. They aren't pearls, unfortunately.

I was actually thinking they may be white agate beads.

I was going to guess white agate, too.

Agate should feel smooth on the teeth. I would vote for shell.
