I'm thinking FWP, but need a weigh in by someone who is more knowledgeable than I am, thanks in advance. Will also post my strand of what I think are tiny akoya, which I got on Ebay as well, after these.
They do seem more round than egg shaped. Surface of a few are pretty bumpy and blemishes that seem to be the way the nacre developed, rather than from any neglect or mishandling. Haven't measured them yet, but I'd guess 8.5 to 9, 9.5? Will have to get busy and do that today, and I'll also try to post some pictures of the drill holes. Thank you for looking at them, Any help is so appreciated!
I agree with Charlotta the surface totally screams Akoya (not the most clean surface, which is unusual) and reminds me of Akoyas from the 1970-1980's. The matching is subpar for Japanese standards but it could have been made with this intention or by someone who just had enough akoya pearls to make a necklace.
Putting this aside: it's a very nice and unique strand!
Those pearls remind me of some of my first akoyas which cost a couple hundred dollars. Lots of surface texture, so a bit baroque, but read as round from a distance. For $44, you got a great bargain. Wear them a lot.
Clasp is silver. They are very pretty, and it's good to know that I didn't over pay, as I am on a learning curve! Am going to post my other ones I got a week ago, see what y'all think! Thank you all!
Pretty sure the clasp wasn't original to the piece, the pearl in it tests out as real, but the color seemed off a little bit, as far as matchingThink a yellow gold would compliment the rosy tones better, will be re stringing them in near future.
