Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if these are real? Also if so, what kind of pearls? They were given to me so I am not sure where they were purchased, but possibly China. The clasp has no markings. I've included the box they were given to me in. They seemed to have passed the tooth test, but I'm not sure. Thank you!

You called it: the shapes are typical of cultured Chinese freshwater pearls.

I agree, Chinese freshwater pearls. Since they are not round, they are probably all nacre.

Ah, thanks to you both. I had suspected as much. The couple who gave them to me had just returned from a trip to China, so I had assumed they were purchased there.

One great thing about these pearls is that they are solid nacre. They will last a very long time! No bead to wear through.

Also, it's obvious they are real pearls. If you think about it, natural pearls are rarely round.
