Hi all, this is my first post.

My grandmother had a natural pearl and she asked me to find out the value of the pearls. The pearl has been in check its authenticity through a local lab.

Here I post photos of the pearl and certificates.
And if anyone knows the value of pearls or where I could find out about it please give me the information.

Many thanks

Rich,

Welcome, that is some pearl! We do have some natural pearl specialists that are members here. I hope they will stop by and comment. Where is that lab located, please? Thank you for including the photo of the certificate.

Did your Grandmother find the pearl herself? We enjoy hearing the stories.

I posted the full certificate, location in Jakarta, Indonesia

Just a short story
This pearl was found several years ago in a giant shell by a fisherman when he was looking for fish, and these pearls just left alone in his house because he thought it was just an ordinary stone.
About 2 or 3 years ago when my grandmother back to the village, this fisherman met with my grandmother and ask for her help.
My grandmother helped fishermen with free of charge and as gratitude the fishermen give her a white stone which he found in the sea to my grandmother.
When my grandmother returned to the city, she had a curiosity about the stone. Then she immediately brought it to gemological laboratory to be checked and the results are as listed in the certificate that I post.

If someone in here know about the value please contact me. Or give me info where i must go to find out the value of this pearl.

Thanks.

There are non-concentric, bisecting lines visible at the surface and the certificate affirms "Cutting Style : Rough".

It has no gem value. The largest portions of scientific or curiosity value were destroyed when it was cut away from the shell.

Sometimes when a pearl grows attached to the shell, it has more value if it is left attached. In this case, cutting it off the shell was a poor choice as Lagoon Island Pearls has pointed out. It is a good story and a family treasure, but maybe very hard to sell.

I just wanted to find out the value of this pearl, and I do not know anything about pearls. If for pearl lovers possible with pearls attached to the shells would be something very valuable. But the thought of a fisherman, the shell just something worthless and they may not think to save large shell in their home.
If you know about Pearl of Allah, this pearl is similar.

It is hard to assign a value to something that is rare, but has been sawn off, because there aren't any published comparable sales to go on. Still, it is better with the saw marks, than to grind away the saw marks to make it look more like a pearl, which would reduce the value further.

You could try contacting Bonham's auction house. They do natural history auctions and may have an idea of the potential value. :)
