Hey Howahya? I had a couple questions on this pearl my cousin found in a Quahog on the New England seacoast. It's mainly lavender and with a little cream. It's 13mm at it's widest point and it's 12.4 Carat. We are located within the Boston area. He's curious to see if he can find someone that has a range of value for this beauty. Any one know where we could take this? What could make Quahog Pearl like this valuable/Rare? Any help is much Obliged! Thanks!

From what I can see, the coloration is pleasing and it's a good size. How about finding a macro setting (little flower) and taking more photos, much closer, preferably in indirect daylight. The white background is good. So far, it looks like you could make a few hundred dollars, maybe a lot more if the photos pan out. Dude, you need to vacuum! ;) Sorry, so rude! Welcome to Pearl-Guide.

Congratulations on your find! Most people never find a natural pearl, so that in itself makes it special.

Now and then folks come on here having found a quahog; if you do a search for "quahog" you can find some threads.
Sometimes the pearls have been cooked with the clam, and this damages them significantly. Hopefully yours has not been cooked?

We often suggest to finders of pearls that they set their pearl into jewelry or put it on a little jewelry "cage" to wear as a pendant. Mostly they are not of a premium shape (round) or an especially desirable color, but fine specimens do seem to sell, based on what I see here:

No it has hot been cooked...Seems to be in great shape.. When i get better pictures taken you will be able to see the different colors..I haven't really seen that many like it, which was pretty cool..

Actually found it when i was 10 smashing quahogs for bait, I found it when i cleaned all the shells off the dock......**** LUCK
