Please help me identify these special pearls from my mother.

What I know about them is the following:
-They are from Japan
-They are saltwater pearls
-They were purchased in the late 1950s

You've got a long strand of nice Mikimoto akoya pearls. They appear to be around 7 mm and have a nice pink luster.

They could use a restringing and a cleaning. I can't tell if there is nacre damage or if they are just a bit dirty.

Thank you so much for your reply! I will share this with my mother. They are very special to her and now to me.
I noticed the clasp looks like it is for multiple strands, but in this case only holds one.

The original Mikimoto may have been a double strand. It may have been turned into a long strand of pearls later in life.

And the longer strand is nice because it can be worn long, shortened with a pearl shortener, or worn double around the neck.
