I have been doing research on Pearl Guide this week and wish to thank everyone for their posts and pictures concerning pearls. I placed an order last night to Pearl Paradise for an 18" strand of Freshadama's and Freshadama dangle earrings. I wasn't sure how to figure out what color gold to go with since I wear both yellow and white gold. I finally choose a white gold for the pearl clasp and dangle earrings. Any one else's thoughts on how to choose the color of the gold? I would think pearls with gold tones would look best in yellow gold, but what about Freshadama's? Any thoughts? Hope I made the right decision. Thanks.

Choosing white gold is usually safe with white pearls because it will generally match both silver and white gold jewelry/clothing accessories (You would be surprized at how many shoe buckles, belts, etc are done with silver).
I think as a rule of thumb it is best to visualize outfits that you want to wear your pearl piece with. Once you have this mental "image" of yourself...think about the other accessories you may be wearing and whether or not these would be yellow gold or white gold. I believe then you will have your answer. For instance, if I am buying a very dressy strand of pearls, I know I will save it for very fancy occasions. I also know that I would like to wear a plain black dress in order to showcase the pearls. In doing so, I always take off my white gold rings, which are more casual. Therefore, I prefer yellow gold because believe it to be more luxurious looking.
