Large lot of pearls purchased years ago at an auction. They came from a pearl dealer who passed away. I’ve tried scheduling appraisals, but I have thousands, and am told it will take a lot of time and thousands to appraise them all.

Why do you want to appraise them? For insurance purposes or for selling purposes? The prices would be different for those two purposes.

Thanks for sharing photos of your pearl lot. It's difficult to identify pearls through plastic bags, but it seems like most of the pearls are freshwater. The small dark pearls in the bin look like dyed freshwater. I do see a tag that says " product of Japan" probably indicates Akoya pearls. Akoya pearls generally will have a higher value than freshwater.
Are there other dark pearls?
It will be helpful to know the year you acquired these.

For insurance purposes. I want to keep them for now. I can check the receipt when I get home for the year and post better pics.

Purchased in November 2019, no the colored pearls actually came from a seperate lot which did specify they were freshwater pearls. These, even I can tell are a much higher quality than the colored ones. They are crème and pinkish mostly.

No way I can get through all of them tonight, but here’s a few additional photos. I can upload more this weekend. It will only allow 20 at a time.

The colored strung pearls below and all the additional photos came from the same lot, but not the black ones. Thanks for your help.

Here’s some that were pre-strung

More…I’ll take more out of the bags this weekend and post them….. this isn’t even half of them…. I think they are somewhat valuable, just by how beautiful they are and the care that was taken of them before. I’m certainly no expert, so I could be wrong…. Any advice or opinions would be a big help. Should I spend the money (and time) to get them appraised? Several pre-string strands indicate Japan…. Some of the short-hand appears to possibly be prices ($730/pair) on some earrings, $7500 on the rice or Keishi string pearls, etc…. But again, I could be wrong.

Meisfa? champ? What does this stuff mean? I’ve tried googling it…. Nada…. Some are labeled “AA quality” “B quality” “damaged”, etc… they are really quite stunning in person. They came from New York, I’ve tried googling that as well “intl cultured pearl” + address, etc… the previous owner was supposedly a pearl dealer who passed away…. His neice (I believe) inherited them and auctioned them off…. I don’t believe she had any idea of the value. She was fairly young and just had no interest in them.
