Pearl & Jewelry Market in Zhuji

Hi Everyone,
Its my pleasure to be a member of this wonderful blog, appreciate the info through the posts of some very helpful people.

I am planing a trip to China and would like to visit the Zhuji Pearl & Jewelry City to source finished jewelry that has a combination pearls and gemstones.

Is the Jewelry in Zhuji subject to pearls only?

Does anyone know what I can expect to buy there or info any other markets that offer similar kind of jewelry.

You might do better buying in Hong Kong. Hang in there and you'll probably get a much better response in a day or two.

I deal in Zhuji. Unless you deal in wholesale and expect to buy large quantities of loose pearls from a factory directly there is no advantage to going there. In fact even as a wholesaler I don't see any purpose in venturing to Zhuji much anymore. There is no price advantage. Everything is done out of HK these days. Zhuji has a small market in a mostly vacant mall. You will do much better in HK or even Shenzhen. Zhuji is out of the way and doesn't have a lot of customers so it isn't much of a destination for jewelry. Shanghai also has a much larger and varied pearl and jewelry market. I would say though that GemGeek has it about right. If you are looking for pearl jewelry and other jewelry options go to HK and Shenzhen. Nothing to see in Zhuji really.

In the earlier posts, somebody was also mentioning about buying pearl jewelry from the Hong Qiao pearl market in Beijing or Shanghai, (not sure which one of the day)

How would that compare to buying in Shenzhen or Hong Kong? Shenzhen would be very convenient as I land in Guangzhou.

For jewelry I would think you would find more variety in selection and price in Shenzhen. For strictly pearls HK would be your better option. They would carry more of the higher quality pearl products there as a general rule. The thing is that some of the top pearl companies have offices in each location. So it's sort of 6 of one, half dozen of the other. As a dealer in pearls HK would be where I would go. For treasure hunting for unique finds in jewelry at good prices I would go to Shenzhen. You will pay full retail in HK for pearl Jewelry. Bargains would be found in Shenzhen. If you like exploring go to Shenzhen. It can be fun. I bought a nice pair of leather shoes hand made in Italy in Shenzhen for $10. How do you beat that?

You are right Mikey considering that my jewelry is more oriented towards fashion jewelry, a combination of pearls and gemstones or crystals, Shenzhen seems more appt.

HK would suit if i only want to buy high end pearls or pearl jewelry. I will definitely go to Shenzhen, its a quick bus ride from Guangzhou where i will be based, which also has its

share of jewelry to offer as well.

Shenzhen is a fun treasure hunting location. You will have fun. Watch for pick pockets though. It's not a serious problem but there are a few.
