What do any of you think of these 'blended' strands? White, to off-white, to light colors, to darker, to deepest in the center. I just wanted to see what they would look like...

Re: Blended strands

Re: Blended strands

I also like them - they are striking! I'd like to see them in softer muted pastel colors - that would be beautiful.

I like them, as long as the center color is not too dark.

Very bold statement! I think they are a creative use of the colors. They have an ethnic feel about them. Also the accumulation of all the strands in one photo has a bakelite effect on me for some reason.

If I had a pile of pearls like that, I'd try stringing some on shorter runs of colors. Maybe take 9 pearls to go from light to dark back to light and repeat that rhythm for the entire strand. (or 5 or 15 pearls etc.) depending on the total number of shades available in a run and the length of the strand. I think it would be a gentler presentation of each color range.

I have never like the way people clump the colors in multi-colored strands, but I know I would like more complex patterns of colors such as this idea.

when i read the description before the pic popped up i thought "oh, i won't like this...." but then i saw the pic and my immediate reaction was "oh, wait! those are kinda pretty...":)

i assume you would present these as single strands, so really i would need to see them that way to comment one way or the other. grouped together like that they have a very different dynamic than they would as a single strand.

i definitely think there is potential there for a unique and beautiful look.....

erin:)

ETA: those are some pretty, shiny pearls!

If there were just triple strands with lighter shades between the strands I would like them. Otherwise I have to agree with Caitlin.

Jerin:)

I am a bit undecided personally. There is a lot of work involved in doing these, and if I decided to carry them I would have the matched in China, of course, but they may just forever be samples.
You will like this, Zeide. The luster is natural, these are from the 7-8mm untreated lot that I told you about. I have polished the pearls (post drill), but no bleach/luster treatments.

Here is a single strand shot to give you a better idea of the look.

Stringing patterns like this is much more like what I do- I just never did it with natural colored fw pearls. I think that is a fabulous idea- if you have enough to choose from!

I was serious about my stringing idea. I think it would look wonderful. I hope you try at least one. In purple.

Hmmm, WEll to be honest I like them and I don't..... I can see the multi strands being a bold sttement for some outfits and working and other combos not so much, I can aslo see some individual strands the same way...

Before I make a permanent decision on the mater ( I look at a number of things before I make a definate decision about pearls)

How are you planning on marketing them? to high end fashion and evening wear? or business minded fold that need todo the 3 pc suit thing, or to more of the "masses" Could I wear them to work with a nice sweater and dress pants? or how about a mutiple interchangeable strand idea where teh lady can mix and match 1,2 or three strands depending on if she is wearing formal wear or Jeans...

Other than that I like how they area presented in the pictures.

Sorry If I am not of much help... but I am honest.....

Nice colors

Nice colors

I like the idea of graduation in color as opposed to size. Where would I be able to price and purchase a strand of these?

Color Blending

Color Blending

I like the various color shading that you have created in your necklaces. They are very unique and have a warm glow about them. I really think you have something there. :)

Jeremy,

I have seen this analagous color run type strand before. I like them.

Hi Jeremy,

The more I look at the pictures the more I like the strands and the more things I can do with them come to mind......

I would love to hear your thoughts on that, Ashby.

I felt that these pieces may be attractive to brides, for their bridal parties. But only when the colors are matching the dresses, whether it be the lighter side of the graduation, or the more stark coloration. The bride would certainly wear a white strand. The graduated color pieces would only be worn by the bridesmaids.

I am not sure if there would be much of a market for this, especially given then color restrictions. But it was just a thought with Spring weddings coming up - always looking for something new for the bridal magazines...

"colors are matching the dresses,
The graduated color pieces would only be worn by the bridesmaids."

That sounds very pretty.

Potential Ideas..

Potential Ideas..

Hi Jeremy,

Thse are just a few Ideas and thoughts I have and things I would do.... It may not work for everyone, This is also going on the idea that there are lighter starnds and darker strands

I agree that there may be a small market for bridesmaids possibly Mother/Sister in laws to be, however I would also market dual function... can be worn to the office too and possibly other options not just a one time deal purchase.... multi function.... for the Bride or her party, business woman, Great gift for your daughers sweet sixteen git.... A unique graduaion gifts for high school or college grads, even the everyday woman...... the more multi facet these strands become possibly the more appealing they may be to women...

That are questions I do ask myself... . how multi functional can these really be for me??? can I wear them to the office? Church? can I dress up my Jeans and sweater with them? Can I use them with my most of my garb???? How often would I really wear such a piece??

Keep in mind I am a normally VERY VERY picky and really hard sell.....

Other stuff to think about....

Depending on lenght of the necklace I sometimes double it over and have a two or three strand bracelet... and same goes with a possible anklet....

I do not want to make anyone cringe with how I wear my pearls withmy garb.. so I will stop there.... Hope some of this helped...

Cheers
Ash

Gradiant pearls: Great idea

Gradiant pearls: Great idea

Hello Jeremy & everyone,
These gradiant strands are beautiful. From what I see, each strand has different colorations. If marketed, a customer could choose from a white or ivory tone to a gold or mauve tone. A great idea on many fronts in fashion. Bridal: Yes! a unique way to match pastel colors themes. Officewear: yes! Conservative but with an individual attitude. Casual in jeans, YES!
For beaders like Caitlin and me, the idea of restringing comes naturally. The colors and patterns matching up with other gemstones offers endless possibilities.
How refreshing to be a member of this forum and view what could come next on the marketplace.
Perfectly round white pearls (especially small ones) hold little interest to me. Thank you for showing your pic, Jeremy.
Best regards to all, Karen

Hi Jeremy,

could we see these necklaces in in a brighter picture, with better light exposure? They look a bit grungy to me (it's probably because of the color, hence my request), but I find the idea interesting.

Regarding Zeide's post with the arabic names, it peaked my curiosity. Here's a excerpt of an article I found on the internet:
Arabian Gulf colloquial Arabic has many words for "pearl," such as lulu', dana, hussah, gumashah, and hasbah, and the Alfar-dans still use the old, traditional names to describe shape and color. There is the sujani, or pear-shaped drop; the khaizi, with an elongated upper half and a half rounded bottom; the adasi, cylindrica with flat sides; the majhoolah, or unknown a large, irregular, ugly pearl which on ran. occasions conceals a perfect one under it' exterior. The sindaali is flesh-colored, sofri is yellow, and the khardil is black. The sinjabaasi is the finest black pearl of all, and the nimro is a pearl fixed in the shell. Lastly, there is the jiwan - a corruption of the Persian word jawan, meaning young or premature - the perfect pearl, rose-tinted white, completely round and with a luster so pure that it comes alive with radiance.

edit: by "grungy" I mean the color of the center pearls make them look like they are dirty (on the photos, and to me).
