Opalised Pearls!!

Those would be the holy grail of holy grails.

Someone posted this link to my Facebook page the other day. I responded to it by suggesting I've been wanting to find fossilized pearls in one of a few ammolite mines we have here on Vancouver Island.

Now I'm more determined than ever ;)

How could they say they're not valuable as gems? They're gorgeous, they're pure opal, and they have the structure of their former life as a pearl. I could understand if they weren't pretty, that they would not be valuable as gems, but they are gorgeous.

Do we know how big they are?

four mm, it said near the beginning.

and of course noone would consider them VALUABLE, they're not RARE like DIAMONDS! (eye roll)

VERY COOL! :)

Hhahah yah I almost choked on my coffee when they said not valuable as gem. I'LL TAKE THOSE NOT SO VALUABLE BAUBLES OFF YOUR HANDS!!! LOLOL!!!

Thank you for sharing hbyrne they are absolutely STUNNING!!!

Lagoon Island Pearls if you do manage to get your hands on some, PLEASE post TONS of photos!!!

From the text, 4mm. Beautiful, rare and unique - sounds like the description of a gem to me.

Thanks! I went back to reread the article, and I had to read it 3 times before "four millimeter" lodged in my brain as 4 mm. Doh!

Thank you. Now I can add opalized pearls to the opalized shell I'd like to have. ♡♡♡

"Priceless ..." Now that I can agree with! These are amazing; thanks for the link Helen. Dave, if you get lucky in the ammonite mines, give us a loud shout please :)

I'll be more than happy to take possession of those not as valuable as gems pearls if they don't want them! They are gorgeous!!!
