I couldn't resist adopting my own pair of octobabies, after seeing the adorable little ones frolicking in Purrhana and GemGeek's posts. They're too cute to resist. Sheri is absolutely delightful and was wonderful about helping me select the right babies. I'm thinking a bigger guy is in my future as well.

I wanted a pair that matched but weren't identical - I love that their colors are similar, but one has more blue tones and the other has more purple tones. Now I need help figuring out names!!

CONGRATS on your new adoption battah - they are ADORABLE!!!
Haha yah I'm struggling with names for my creature family as well - I'm adopting faster than I can come up with names... ;)
Looking forward to seeing many more photos of them!!!

Thank youuuuu, Purranha! Hmm adopting more? pics pics pics!

I love how these little guys feel. I'm a big fan of jewelry that feels good in my fingers - I never just wear a necklace, I need to be able to touch it and play with it, and these guys are so much fun to play with. I love their little eyeballs!

Haha many ladies here are very tactile - we all like to touch & play with our necklaces!

I adopted the 2 other siblings to your little guys, so we are silver octo baby sibs! I asked Sheri to enamel one of them, so I have 1 aqua one and 1 silver one. I haven't posted them because I wanted to make hot air balloons out of them, but have been so swamped at work and summer travels that I just haven't managed to work on the project... Soon I hope!

Here is an earlier octo baby I made into a balloon, this octo baby is even teensier than the one we have but I think Sheri is out of the teensy ones at the moment.

Aww he's so teeny! I love him. The balloons are great, I love how you gave each one so much character.

The enamel sounds gorgeous! I wanted to go simpler first, so my first pair can be worn with a lot of things, but I'm thinking maybe enamel soon. And/or a fabulous ripple. I wonder if we can convince Sheri to make turtle babies, too...

Couldn't agree with you more - I didn't pick up enamels until my later adoptions!

Yes we can definitely attempt to commission her to make many other fabulous creatures!
There is a Squidlet in the works commissioned by ckrickett and the Squidlet is a handsome little dude!

Ooh I just saw him! He's adorable, ckrickett!

Thank you, newberry! I'm planning a few more long necklaces like this one. The tricky part is finding really small gemstone beads so I can braid them up narrow. I need to measure these but they might be 2mm or just under.

I do love that your spinel rope is so narrow ... elegant and graceful. I'm sure it's hard to find gems that tiny, not to mention stringing and braiding!

Cathy, I found them at my local gem show and got them at an amazing price. I only got enough for one necklace, but next time the show is in town I'm thinking I need to buy them all, haha. I just got a bunch of small glass seed beads that I'll be weaving into long necklaces, too. Not as cool as gemstones, but they come in itty bitty sizes that will make for a nice, skinny braid.

We have an Intergem Gem Show coming up here the second weekend in July ... I may wander down to Philadelphia and see what's new ...

You should go! You'll probably have the same vendors we do (I'm in the DC area). I got the spinels and some other stuff from Beads After Beads, he tends to have pretty good stuff, and great prices. He carries a lot of small pearls, too, if you're looking for seed pearls.

I just might, Battah :) I go every so often when I can, or more often to the show in Chantilly, VA. Even though it's a good 4 hours from our home, we have relatives and friends 10 minutes away, and the show is often when we have a visit scheduled. That show is generally bigger than the Philadelphia one too. Yes, some vendors are the same, but not all. Always looking for pearls :)

Chantilly is the show I always go to! There are a couple of vendors that have reasonably nice freshwater pearls, but of all of the ones I've seen with saltwater, nothing compares to the Tahitians I've gotten from PP. I've gotten ok ripples from a few of them (lighter colors, nothing super saturated), and some nice seed pearls.

If you come to the next one here, we should meet up! I promise I'm not weird lol.
