Not sure what to do for clasp

Since I got my strand of Kamoka Tahitians they have lived as a bracelet and a necklace, both interspaced with a variety of stones or gold pearls. Now I am beginning to feel it might be time to make one full necklace. But I don't know what to do for clasp.

Ideally I would like something flashy with diamonds. But those within my budget seem anything but flashy. I thought about looking for some interesting vintage clasp. Then remembered the last time I used a vintage clasp, my akoyas were never found again. Another option is an orbit clasp which would give me the option of adding an enhancer if I wanted to. But it is very contemporary and neither flashy or unusual. I don't know...

Karin, I have loved my pave lion head clasp that I used on Emily Thorne (posted in my Victoria Grayson thread).
Flashy, budget friendly, uber versatile, and comes in 4 colors (silver, rose gold, gold, rhodium).
And if you end up not liking it, you can always change it out without feeling guilty (budget friendly)!
There are similar pave clasps both in smaller and larger sizes!

Thank you for the suggestions! I have two problems. I wear plating off in a matter of weeks, always have. And I kinda feel that with the cost of the Kamoka it really deserves at least real gold. But that could just be me being old fashioned :)

I did look at Bella Findings but didn't see anything that seemed quite right - within my budget (liked the first one on that link). I may just have to wait as I spent most of my savings on the baroque akoyas. It was just because I had my one chance of getting someone to pick up a package for me in the US this coming month. So I got impatient :)

When I bought my natural white Hanadama rope from PP, I asked them if they could get me a disco ball clasp that screws in the middle in white gold but with CZs instead of diamonds. That way I know I won't have a problem with tarnish or the finish wearing off. And CZs sparkle much better than the crappy small diamonds they tend to put in clasps. The cost was $400, vs. the roughly $1500 to $1800 a diamond version would have cost. The clasp is super sparkly. A still photo in the shade just doesn't do it justice.

I went with a screw style instead of the ball clasp with a plunger, because I have a bad habit of breaking the hooky plunger thingy.

I think PP was a bit hesitant at first when I mentioned faux stones, but I think they were really pleased with the final result because it doesn't look like a fake clasp.

That ball clasp is awesome and I second cz over crappy grade diamonds. I'd go for a vintage clasp, personally, you could probably add a guard chain in a creative manner.

These are sterling and CZ...one set with my light mix tahitians (diamond and white gold rondelles), the other on a new strand of peacocksIMG_3131.jpgIMG_3132.jpgIMG_3135.jpg
Honestly, these two clasps were so inexpensive that I wasn't expecting much. I'm not sure I'm wild about the one with the peacocks, but the one on the light mix strand is really just what I was looking for!

That first clasp is especially nice, JerseyPearl ... do you mind sharing the source on that one? I have a relative who bought 4 strands of jade/jadeite this weekend at the Gem Show, and now is balking at paying for 14K gold clasps ... she might like this one.

Hi Cathy, I agree with you...the second one doesn't look nearly as nice as the first. One thing I didn't account for in the strand with the nicer clasp...it's length (that's what happens when you string pearls while having a glass of wine). The strand is now hitting me a bit long, so I will need to remove two pearls. The circle clasp might be really great on another strand I have of flame ball pearls that are strung with a clasp that doesn't quite look right. The clasps are from Bella, and are rhodium plated sterling with CZs. I am considering a trip to LA just to go to Bella's showroom, but I fear they would max out my credit cards! Pearls are my vice.

Those are pretty! Need the gold look, though.

Andrea, good point about adding my own safety chain.

KarinK, both those clasps come in white, rose and yellow gold finishes, I believe :)
