Received this set when my grandmother passed. Wanted to find out a little more about what I have.

What type of pearls?

What type of pearls?

The pearl bracelet feels gritty but the necklace does not. They were in my grandmothers jewelry box but did not have a container with them My grandmother was born and spent most of her young years in Mexico. I'm not sure if she acquired the pearls then or later into adulthood but she passed recently at age 95. I don't have any appraisals or other documentation about them. There is a 14k on the bracelet clasp but nothing on the necklace. The largest is 5mm the smallest is 3.

Thank you in advance :)

The necklace is probably imitation pearls.

The bracelet could be cultured freshwaters if she bought them in the past 12 years or so. (Old people shop for new things too!) They seem a bit egg shaped, which would be typical of freshwaters. If so, they were probably bought when gold prices were lower.

Unless the eggy shape is just distortion of the image from photographing them flat. If the pearls in the bracelet are really round, they are likely cultured akoyas.
