I'm a long-time lurker but had to de-lurk to share my new pearls. It's been so fun, ever since I was bitten by the bug four years ago, to read this forum every time I buy a new necklace. The DH can't really appreciate them, so I like to hear other voices. (He's very tolerant, but all he knows it that it's great he doesn't have to CHOOSE presents for me, as I choose them all by myself!) I'm trying to buy my pearls in a somewhat logical manner, focusing mostly on freshwater for the value until later in life, when hopefully I'll be promoted into WSS territory.
Meanwhile, I'm trying to get strands that are not too much alike, at least for now, so I've been concentrating on getting a rainbow of colors. When I can control myself, I limit myself to whatever category of pearl and type of necklace that allows me to get "the best" of that category within the particular budget I've set for myself at the time. So the new strand is a 7.5-8.0 pink freshadama 16" necklace. The color is far beyond what I expected, so I wanted to document how happy I am with them. They are as close to candy-color as I want to get!
The first picture is in shade; the second is in full sun. The third picture is the neck shot (of course!) The fourth is a comparison between my other colors: in the middle are the 7.5-8.0 pink freshadamas, then there are my 7.5-8.0 white freshadamas outside of them, followed by the Vietnamese green akoyas that were on sale around Christmas, and then finally, on the outside, my 4-9 graduated lavender freshies.
The last picture is something I couldn't resist: seeing the pink, white, and green together really made me feel "springy." I'm calling this look Spumoni!
