Natural Mississippi pearl ring ca 100 yers old offered on eBay

Hi,

I got a lapis and Mississippi slug ring that is good for almost nothing but use as a weapon or for weightlifting. Any takers?

Hi Zeide
What are Mississippi slugs? Are you saying those wrinkly pearls are slugs?

I'll take a photo of your ring- email if you wish.......

Hey Bogus
Whoever said you'd get a bargain on eBay? Most of the time, I think you pay at least market value.

Oh well, I can't dislike the vintage English setting - IMO, it is as much of a staple design as a Tiffany six prong solitaire... just a prim and proper (and therefore not too interesting) way of setting three stones.

The wrinkly pearls are appealing, but I have no clue of their value. One thing I wonder is how could one evaluate them properly in a closed setting like that - what if the backside is all a mess? Would they still be worth 10k then?

What is a slug?

What is a slug?

Zeide -

I would love to see your ring, if you have a picture, because I have always wondered what the pearl history books meant by the term, "slug".

Thanks - Annie

Caitlin,
The ring is beautiful, but the price is too high. As you see, it is still there.... I would love to have it myself.
Why don't you try to make an offer?
good luck,
nora

Zeide,
I'll take the ring (if I can afford it!). I live in L.A. and weightlifting and weapons are all the rage here (plus I'm fascinated by native pearls). Drop me a line if you haven't a change of heart or someone beat me to it.

Hi Nora
I never meant to bid on the ring, I posted because the seller claims it is an American-grown pearl. I think it is way overpriced, even though it is probably rare, if authentic.

That is a very pretty ring. I like it better than the slug ring for sluggers I first put up, though I am very interested in any pearl that claims to be American in origin
