Hi Everyone,

My name is Fay and I am an avid reader of pearl-guide it has been a great resource for me. My father in law has been dealing with cultured pearls for many years but as of the last 2 years has begun to find natural pearls as he is now living in Bali Indonesia. I have set up a simple website for him so that he can show what he has available as well.

Lucky for me he has given me a nice collection of pearls as well!

I would love to share with you the natural pearls

The main ones that are here are clam pearls and there is a few button pearls and cassis pearls too which are the lovely orange colour

my favourite is the melo melo which has a bright orange flame! this one is from my own personal collection and I love it.

All these pearls have come from Indonesia or one of the islands surrounding it. In terms of certification- I believe that my father in law has sent one or two off for approval.

I look forward to showing my collection and getting some more insight from the experts here :)

Thanks again

Nice collection. The tridacna and melo melo pearls are almost perfectly round and have great flame.

Thanks for showing them!

Very nice, and great to see you posting!

Does anyone know which tridacna clam can produce a brown pearl or are they all capable of it?

The 'melo-melo' pearl image looks like my photograph of a Cassis pearl in my collection, in THIS POST. It has subsequently been used by a seller or two, including apparently here. Not a big deal, I'm flattered if so. It was a lucky shot.

Quite a small pearl, just a bit over 3 carats. But textbook.

Also pleased to see the term 'Kima' used in preference to 'Tridacna.' Also something started here!

Indeed it is.

This forum has a reputation and expectation for it's members to provide factual information and attribution of the use of other's images.

Fay... please explain.

Wow, I recognized Steve's Cassis pearl immediately. What a bunch of BS - the "close-ups" don't belong to the distance shots!!!

I am sorry to hear this, I cut them some slack because they had natural pearls, because their first post was spammy. I gave them the chance to rewrite it. But I would say Fay is busted.

I removed the links from her signature. But the lie about Steve's pearl being part of her personal collection was so bald faced, I think it deserves banning.

Well, I wonder how many of the photos were lifted.

I DIDN'T recognize Steve's photo immediately, went back to Nautilus thread to try to compare point to point because I thought "how many people can photograph pearls like this that well?"

it's really impressive how so many of the members can recognize the pearls like faces. Let's see, I can remember Blaire, Olga, Nora, Jeremy...huh, actually I think I'm about to do an endless roll call of the senior members who've posted about recognizing individual pearls...you guys are the tops!

Don't worry Caitlin, there's lots of us who are real, genuine-hearted people here! Ptooey! on the Phoneys.

Oh silly me, you guys have survived much worse, silly to think comfort is required! You ARE Madame Admin, growl !!!

There are always going to be people that mistake a generous welcome for stupidity and an invitation to pillage. They learn. We don't have to stop being welcoming, right.

I can't say that I have a great memory, but I use several of Steve's photos in my presentations, so I am intimately acquainted with them. And honestly, I am so into these non-nacreous pearls that the photos are almost like pearl flash cards for my memory and pearl playing cards for my pleasure.

She wrote me a letter insisting she owns the pearl in the photo and that she had never looked at P-G when the photo was taken. Well, it may have come from another site that stole it, but you can lay one on top of the other for a perfect match, including the very unusual pattern of lights reflecting off it. That can't be duplicated. It is even the same size! The other "closeup" was also very tiny and it looks like a professional photo too.

So what is left is some lumpy pearls, the one kima, and the one drop at the top, hardly worth selling on their own website, unless they are beefed up with other perfect examples. Fay's intention was to get us to go to her website, and buy, not to share her grandfather's collection and get our feedback.

As i said, I wrote her about her first post and gave her a second chance. One of my favorite sayings is, "once is coincidence, twice is a pattern". And that is a saying that has steered me away from giving third chances.
