I've been taking a few photos of some of my pearl jewellery recently - and since I enjoy looking at the photos others have posted, I thought I would put up my small collection of tahitian pearls.
The pendant was my first tahitian, about 11mm in silver - the setting makes it look rather like a mabe pearl, but I don't think it is, although it does have some brown discolouration on the back. I fell in love with the lustre, and orient on it, as well as with the piece of boulder opal (which looks good enough for black opal to my undiscerning eye). It comes from a local ultra-marathon runner and craft jeweller, Lisa Tamati.
I later asked Lisa if she had a ring to match, and she came up with the one shown - a steely, silver 10mm pearl with a faint crimson-rose orient that distracts me when I'm waiting at traffic lights, hands on the steering wheel.
The earrings are Pearl Paradise, 11-12mm peacock baroque and the colours just come up beautifully when photographed.
