My natural pearl necklace and earrings

Hi everyone,
I have an antique natural pearl necklace and earrings that my great aunt gave me and due to financial hardship, I'm most likely going to be selling them.
They are natural pearls -(purchased circa 1900-1934) Continental seed pearl, according to the letter from my aunt. They were originally a gift my great great grandfather gave his niece. They are in their original box from Carteaux Jewelers (Chicago, IL). The box itself says "Box Made in Italy" in gold writing on the bottom. The earrings are 14k gold.

I wanted to let everyone here on the forum know first, in case they would be interested in purchasing them. I'd probably list them on Ebay for the official sale. If anyone is interested in making an offer, let me know either through this thread or through private message. Thanks so much!

They probably are natural American freshwater pearls. The date and the Chicago connection don't contradict it. The color is right. The shapes are right. Those are rare and I have no idea what they are worth. More than your average cultured freshwater pearls for sure. A lot more. I am going to PM Pearl-man to have him look at these.

These could be worth selling in a big auction house like Bonham's or Christies.

I agree with Caitlin's assessment on all points.

American FWP and crafting consistent with the period. Despite the obvious mismatch in color and shape, much of the value remains high, by rarity of the piece.

Although these present as natural, lab certification will undoubtedly add value. These could fetch a premium in the right auction house.

A terrific example of All-American pearl history in a single piece.
