Inherited from my mother. She received them as a wedding gift in 1949. Your opinion?

There are no marks of any kind on the clasps. They appear slightly over 5mm each. They are sort of gold color and feel quite smooth against each other.

Imitation pearls back then were loved and cherished as if they were "real." Not inexpensive either, often a special occasion gift, as these were. Perhaps someone in your family would enjoy wearing them. Recommend restringing, or perhaps restyling to suit.

My mother has an imitation strand from that period that she finally gave up wearing because they were looking pretty sad. They were her go-to jewels for years. I picked up a gorgeous strand Chinese freshwaters from the Pearl Paradise Christmas sale to replace them. She is one happy mama.

Hi Red, do we have pics over here, or is it a thread on PS?

thank you all for all the time and effort you're spending, double-site posting. I'm grateful for the Goodies!

Thank you, Lisa. The story and photos are over on PS under "PP Holiday Clearance sale". She has worn her new pearls a number of times. Definitely a hit and, for me, a great value. :)
