Has anyone here attended this show? As much as I'd love to go to Hong Kong, the reality for me is that New York might work out better. What's the scoop, how do they compare, and anyone going to be there?

Hi Sheryl,

You can not compare the two shows. MJSA is primarily a tool & equipment show, however, there are some stone and pearl dealers that do sell there, too. In my opinion.... it's a crummy show. In March of 2007, we had a big snow storm and many of the west coast dealers didn't make it in. Some of the dealers that were here for the 2008 show said they weren't coming back. Here's my advice.... don't waste your time (and money) just to come to NYC for this show. If you have other business in NY (like seeing your daughter) then stop by the show.
GO TO TUCSON :D.
If you should decide to come to NY and are at the show, let me know.

Tucson, if could go, but only for a quick weekend since it comes at a very bad time of the school year for me. It confuses me when I read, as it appears it is a lot of different shows at one time. I'll check out the other threads, and see, but I appreciate the heads up about NY. I'm sure I'll see you there at some point!

I go to this show yearly, a jeweler-friend always gets tickets for me. It is basically an equipment show and a majority of the non-equipment stalls, for lack of a better word, sell beads. Since I am a beader, the show is a good one to attend and last year I bought the most gorgeous tahitian keshi pearl. There are very few pearl people at the show, but from what I have seen, they all sell pretty high quality goods.
