I am completely ignorant when it comes to jewelry so I'm looking for any help I can find.

Recently, I purchased what is believed to be a Mikimoto necklace. Description and pictures from the listing are below.

I understand that Mikimoto does not offer authenticity services. Is that something that has happened in more recent years or has it always been the case?

As the listing states, the necklace may need to be restrung (I assume that means that it does need to be restrung). What should I expect to pay for that service from Mikimoto?

Does a replacement value certificate from Mikimoto include a notation of the grade of pearls?

I'm interested in doing what needs to be done to appropriately preserve, care for, and authenticate the necklace. Any tips are are appreciated!

"with box, and in possible need of re-stringing; with an 18 karat yellow gold clasp, pearls slightly graduated ranging from 6.48-6.94mm in diameter; measuring 22-1/8 inches long"

Mikimoto strands usually come with a serial number on a small piece of paper, at least my mother's did. If you don't have that, there's no way to get a new one.

The clasp looks authentic, but the pearls and the clasp are really dirty. They need a good cleaning and restringing. Any good jeweler should be able to restring this necklace. Or you could learn to restring it yourself. Mikimoto will charge a lot more than a jeweler to restring it. I'll message you Miki's repair phone number and you can ask them yourself. They were very responsive when I used them for a different issue.
