I finally found some time to string and knot the lavender FFW pearls I had bought at the gem show in October. I bought four strands of round 12-15mm very lavender pearls. They are really remarkable because basically they are perfectly round and not rippled at all. This is the first strand I have put together. and it is 19" long. I plan to make another strand slightly shorter so I can nest them. I used a magnetic clasp. I am not 100% pleased with my knotting as I am a little rusty. I wish I had a craft room or space so I could leave my projects our and not have to set it up each time I want to work them. The other strands of plan to make into tin cups.

Those are huge! They look really good on you too. You know I've seen those bead boards with lids, so you can just stack the unfinished projects without disturbing them. That might work for you? When I'd go gem & Bead shows I'd get more gem tray boxes there, but they are too narrow for the bead board I have. I understand the spaces issues :( These work too:

Those are huge and beatiful!! I really do love lavender pearls. I have the same issue with a lack of dedicated craft space. I should really get rid of some stuff.

Where can you find those boards you're talking about, BPDDC?

The one in the pic is a gem supply tray and I've seen them at the gem shows I did a quick google search for the image. (Because they are usually less expensive then the products designed specifically for the bead boards). Here in the US I've seen the trays with lids and covers in craft stores like Michaels and JoAnns.

Just for reference there is this too: Beadsmith Travelers Bead Board

I am just curious...how do you think Rose gold or rose gold vermeil would look with the coloring of your pearls? I have some lavenders I am pairing with lavender colored amethyst beads I am going to make a pair of earrings for my mom (for Xmas...maybe lol).

the pearls are great and i hope you get a lot of wear and enjoyment out of them

Thank you everyone. I do use a covered board I bought from Rio Grande. It is great for keeping projects together
I do need advice on finishing off the necklace after back knotting the last three pearls. I couldn't quite work the thread through a few more pearls so there was not tail. I end up cutting the thread and then used a dab of glue. I really didn't like that. So any help would be appreciated.

Luvglitz, your lavender pearls are stunning ... nice job!

BlackPearlDudeDC, that covered bead board is brilliant ... I need one of those. I've seen the lids etc., but sooner or later the boards always get cracked and broken in travel ... this might help ... Thanks.

Wow, look at those! The size, the color. And your knotting job looks fine to me.

Don't worry about the knot with a bit of glue. Sometimes you can pinch it/shape it a bit with pointy tweezers to make it tidier before the glue dries completely. In any case remember it is in the back, where people won't see it.

I have all my beading tools and supplies in the basement, with a long wide table and a fluorescent light overhead (originally set up for sewing), but I don't like beading there. I prefer working with lots of natural light. Invariably I haul whatever I need upstairs to our dining room, then back downstairs when I'm done. It's a nuisance but light is everything when it comes to pearls.

I've been stringing at our breakfast room table because lots of light streams in through the windows near by. Even with the added light, I use a jewelry head piece which magnifies everything. It even has a little lamp attached. Eye sight isn't what it used to be. Thank you, JerseyPearl for the info on finishing a knotted necklace.
P.S. Love your Etsy shop.

What a great job you did and those pearls look glorious on you.

Finished Project

I finished two strands of my lavender pearls. I wanted them to nest so I could wear two together. I can't believe I acctuately guessed right on the shorter strand. I used magnetic clasps. Thank you Pattye for your beaders secret and wonderful needles.
BlackPearlDude rose gold would have been my first choice with these pearls. I had the magnetic clasps in sterling, so that's what I used. I have with the strands a very metallic ripple from The Pearl Society on eBay. Sorry that picture is giant size, not sure what I did wrong.
