Does anyone here go to the Las Vegas show in June? I wasn't sure if they had a large pearl area or if it is mainly finished jewellery. From the web site it looks like it's mainly jewellery and individual gem stones for rings etc. I thought if I was passing through the States in June I'd stop in but if it's mainly jewellery it's not for me.

We will usually go every year. There are a lot of pearls there, both finished and loose, with dealers from the states and all over the world. It's definitely worth a stop through.

I should mention though, since I know you've been to the Hong Kong show, prices are very different in Hong Kong. Most of the dealers go to Hong Kong to buy and resell at the Vegas and Tucson shows.

The biggest show, JCK, is mostly finished jewelry. Although you can find un-mounted pearls at the AGTA show downstairs, it's probably not going to please you after seeing Hong Kong. I highly recommend doing a survey of the Tucson gem shows - it's like the Wild Wild West of Gems! :)

Thanks very much Jeremy and GemGeek for the very useful info. I did wonder if they were mostly dealers and good to know to expect 'sticker shock' if I ever get there. I decided today to go to HK for the next show so given the higher prices it's probably not going to be worth a special trip to go to LV as well. Maybe I'll look at Tucson..I like the notion of 'the wild west of gems' lol

Jeremy..did you like the Mira? I'm looking to switch up hotels and get a bit closer to the pearl offices.

The Mira is our favorite. We've stayed there exclusively for the last couple of years. We stay there even when the show is at AWE.
