Looking for information on value of large clam pearl found in Long Island waters. The pearl is 13.39mm x 18.5mm and the weight is 21ct. and comes with the actual shell it was found in. Would like to auction same if I knew where.

Sounds interesting, but I doubt you will get much feedback without some good images to go with your enquiry. Any chance of seeing the pearl & shell?

Orient, Thanks for that comment. I have good images of the pearl and the shell that I will post. I think they will show a very interesting natural pearl. Warren

I have attached pictures of the rare Long Island pearl. Please contact me for further information.

It's a Quahog pearl and it is large! :) Can you get a sharper photo of the pearl surface? The surface quality matters in pricing. A glossy surface is more valuable than a dull one.

Thanks, it is a nice pearl with a very good shape, although luster is not easy to judge from the photos. A more distinct/intense color would get top dollar.

Size appears a bit smaller than the measurements you gave, my eye (converting from inches) makes it out to be closer to 10x15mm, still a whopper.

Young Spat,
Sorry it has taken so long to get the immages og the pearl and shell for all to see. It is now posted on the page . As I said, it is a rare find for Long Island waters.
