JC Penney Pearls

My grandmother bought these for her mother at Penney’s in 1943. My aunt gave them to me about 10 years ago and they’ve sat in a drawer since then. I took them to be restrung and the jeweler says they are plastic!?!?! Clasp says Sterling8. Thoughts?

Imitation, I agree 100%. It wasn't unusual for imitation strands to have silver clasps. My mother and MIL both had imitation strands with a silver clasp.
