This festival sounds like an excellent idea
Abu Dhabi Jan 10: The Abu Dhabi Culture and Heritage Authority has organized a 49 day International Pearl Festival at the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. The Pearl Festival, the first of its kind, opened on 10th December, 2006 and will run till the end of February. It is proposed to hold this festival every two years in Abu Dhabi. It is hosted by the Abu Dhabi Culture and Heritage Authority in collaboration with the American Museum of National History, the National Museum of Bahrain, the Pearl Laboratory of Bahrain and the Museum of Oman.......

The festival will not only display and exhibit pearls, but also have conferences, films, seminars, workshops, book launches and a charity auction organized by Christie's. All proceeds of a planned charity auction will go to the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS).

A business associate of mine who owns a Tahitian pearl farm on Raroia just told me yesterday about a special pearl he recently found. We were discussing unique, and one of a kind pieces. He says the pearl is bright red. I will be there next month to get a preview of the upcoming April harvest, and hopefully will be able to get a shot of that pearl. He is a farmer, has been for a long time, and says it is the only one of its kind he has ever seen.

I am looking forward to seeing a nice big picture of the red pearl of Tahiti.

What did the shell look like- did they keep it?

I do so appreciate this ongoing conversation about red pearls and LapNoor pearls. Where else could this be happening? Nowhere, this is unique to this forum.

PS I can't find any references to red pearls, or LapNoor pearls in Strack. Anyone else notice any? If they aren't in her book, I could ask her about them at the free AGTA seminar on Feb 1st at 9am in Tucson at the TCC.......
