Hi,

I have a double strand necklace of GIA certified natural pearls (from Bahrain), about 95 pearls in each strand. The size ranges from 3.8mm to 8.05mm in diameter. How do I know how much they are worth? What is the right place to buy, sell these? I have not been able to find any current information about natural pearls online!

Thanks!

If you pearls are true natural pearls they can be quite valuable! Because these types of pearls are not typically on the market valuating them can be very difficult as they usually go in auction. See this thread below:

I would find a lab that specializes in rare a natural stones. The GIA may have a list in the US. Othersize contact an auction house that like Christie's if you are looking to sell them. They may be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the quick response! I looked at the website of Christie's. There are several strands of natural pearls there for sale. Does it make any difference where the pearls come from? Or does it mostly depend on how large they are, and how many?

The origin of the pearls can make a bit of difference as natural pearls are typically purchased by collectors. But Bahrain pearls are rare, and considered very valuable.
From the size of the strand you have, depending on the condition and quality of the pearls, it may go for as much as $25,000 on auction. But I would strongly recommend contacting a company like Christie's to speak with a specialist to guage the real value of the strand.
