ID Help - Gritty and a gold mark but can't ID

There is clearly a karat mark on the magnetic clasp. Possibly a MA or MC as well but not discernible. Any help is appreciated as I am a total newbie. I picked this up for $20 at a thrift store. First time I have found some with grit! .

The pearls seem a little off-round/egg-shaped in the photo-- do they seem that way in person? I'm thinking they may be cultured freshwater pearls.

They are definitely cultured freshwater pearls from China, rather blemished (from looking at the close up.)

I can't read the clasp, but Rio Grande sells similar clasps in gold plated, gold filled and 14K.
