These belonged to my mother who is in her 80s. They were in her possession for decades. They appear to have been on a larger strand that was broken and this is what remains. The holes appear to be professionally drilled. The total weight is 2.8 grams for all 6. What do you think I have here ?

Well, at first sight they seem to be Potatoe freshwater pearls from China...but they could also be natural baroque pearls.
Did she leave any information about the pearls? Source/origin?

Mom is still very sharp in her early 80s but claims to have no memory at all of these being purchased. This means they could have possibly belonged to her mother. I believe that would mean they were at least in the family for 50 years. Possibly as many as 80 years or more. I noticed the “string” they are on looks as if it is very fine braided metal cord. Not sure if that helps date them. There are possibly more of them to be found amongst her things. Either way I assume they are not valuable. My grandmother was from a large poor working class family that lived in Iowa back in the 30s and 40s. I can’t imagine much was spent on them if that’s where they came from (likely). It’s not really possible that my mother purchased or was given them and has simply forgotten about them. That would be out of character for her. She is meticulous with her belongings.
