just booked for some weeks hawaii this christmas :)

its a island so there most be some natural pearls over there

does anyone know if there are fisherman that harvest shells and can have pearls there ?

besides the naturals they should find, there should be some leftovers from the farms they shut down some years ago maybe diving at the old farms will bring in some forgotten oysters with forgotten freaks in them :)

Please be sure to contact the local Fish & Wildlife Service before attempting to fish for natural pearls: a local hawaiian Pearl oyster species is the Hawaiian Black Lip or Pinctada (margaritifera) galstoffi (some consider it a sub-species of P. margaritifera, others a unique species) and I believe it is listed as "Under Special Protection Status" so it could be a serious offense to fish them.

Secondly, if you purchase "poached pearls" you may not be caught, but you are offering poachers an incentive to continue fishing these protected oysters. Buy cultured pearls instead and enjoy the Islands!

Well not really planning on taking them all out myself :) more mean that there should be Pearls comming up at the hawaiian natives/locals That work with Shell material there aint much who do That but the ones That do should have Pearls :) well i Will just see when i get there :) i have pearls found in belgium and Holland haha so finding Pearls in Hawaii should be 10 times easyer :p

I'd be afraid that you would be scammed. Enjoy your vacation! :)
