Hello! I want to share with you here what was recently found inside the Tridacna shell in the waters of the remote island in the Molucca Sea. Can hardly call it a pearl but it's a beautiful formation! It's about 50 gram piece.

What an interesting piece!

Those look like calcified gonoducts. I've seen it mussels, but in clams it's really rare.

Do you have other information or photographs?

Hahaha! Maybe we can start to call it a pearl with the brains!? The size is approximately 45x40x20 mm and here are some more photos. You can see the place where it was attached to.
Thank you for your opinions!

Meredith, that's beautiful, amazing and wonderful! And remarkable to have the original shell as well ... well done!

super cool; I think it would've been better left on the shell as a neat display!

Agreed. It's always advised to preserve value because anything cut can be deemed as damaged or destroyed.

In this instance though, a clever crafter can work around this problem. In reality, it happens a lot with pearls, for example drilling at a blemish or filing the back side of something to fit a bezel.

Thank you so much, Pattye, Katbran, CathyKeshi ea, for your kind comments here! Great to hear that the piece is of interest! By the way, it was already loose, out of the shell. But it was not difficult to discover the place where it was attached to. When sitting on its place, it obviously belongs there. It would be nice to keep it for myself but I will not hesitate to sell it when I find out what it's worth and when I find a buyer.
