Great Grandmother's Pearls Late 1800s-Early 1900s.

Any one have any ideas of what type of pearl they are?

I'm wearing them on my wedding day and would love to have some history on them.

What a lovely inheritance, and extra special to have the photo of your beautiful Great Grandmother wearing them! Do you know if they have been recently restrung? These look most like mother of pearl beads cut from shell to me. The swirly patterns on the beads and the taupe color lead me to feel this way. Let's see what comments others have~

Sorry, I missed the other discussion, that's what happens when one takes a little vacation. The necklace that was listed is very similar, I agree.

They look like carved shell to me. Very pretty.
