Quadrula metanerva: Natural pearl producing freshwater mollusk found in the United States, otherwise known as the monkeyface or knobbed rock shell.

Quadrula nodulata: Natural pearl producing freshwater mollusk found in the United States, otherwise known as the wartyback, two-horned pocketbook, pimpleback, winged pimpleback, nodule and winged orb shell.

Quadrula pustulosa: Natural pearl producing freshwater mollusk found in the United States, otherwise known as the warty pigtoe, wartback and pimpleback shell.

Quadrula quadrula: Natural pearl producing freshwater mollusk found in the United States, otherwise known as the mapleleaf or stranger shell.

Quahog: Saltwater bivalve mollusk (Mercenaria mercenaria) also known as the cherrystone clam.

Quahog pearl: Small, often violet natural pearl with a porcelaneous surface produced by the quahog mollusk.

Quality Assurance Tag: Introduced by JPEA in 1999 as a voluntary quality-control system, the tag is attached to temporary cultured pearl strands before export to indicate they have met minimum quality standards.

Quality factors: Characteristics of natural or cultured pearls used to establish their value.

Queen conch: A marine gastropod (Lobatus gigas/Strombus gigas) from the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea that produces natural non-nacreous pearls of desirable pink colors known as conch pearls. These pearls may display a unique "flame" pattern which is highly desirable.
