Garage sale unknotted strand

I found this unknotted strand at a garage sale and am wondering what kind of pearls they are (that is if they are pearls). Also I have some other strands I inherited and some found at thrift store - I still need to take pictures of those though. Thank you in advance for your help.

those are baroque freshwater pearls from China.
