Diamond and Pearl necklace on eBay

What kind of pearls do you suppose these are? The seller does not say. Drop shaped pearls seem fairly unusual these days. Where could I find some large drop shaped earrings on the net? Is it possible?

I LOVE drop-shaped pearls. In fact, I was just admiring some in our local jewelry store. You sure don't see them at most online pearl vendors!

I guess a drop shape could be achieved by mounting round pearls with little 'dunce caps'....

Hi Caitlin,

This is a classic design. The main reason why you do not see big drops around anymore is that pearl farmers try to avoid circumstances that cause shapes being anything other than round like the plague (including long culturing times) and a secondary reason is that the drops now all go into earrings that are mostly being sold in Europe.

I think thesa are white South Sea pearls. What buffles me is, that such a fine collier would come up on E-bay.

I too lOVE drop pearls! That is such a pretty piece! I have been looking for some drops even CFWP for some possible pieces I want to do! for earings and hair adornment pieces! Drops look way better than rounds for these!
